Your scarf purchase contributes directly to the wages of our artisan partners and part of the proceeds are reinvested into the young refugee women in Heshima Kenya's social enterprise, the Maisha Collective. All scarves are hand-dyed using a traditional African dyeing technique called resist dyeing. Because every scarf is handmade and one-of-a-kind, the pattern or color may vary slightly from the photos here.

Blending together tradition and innovation, this vintage hand loomed huipil (a Mayan blouse worn by indigenous women throughout Central America pronounced wepeel) from Patzun Guatemala is meticulously designed. Each hand dyed thread is natural cotton and the method and design used to create this one-of-a-kind garment has been passed down from generations and signifies the village and its personality. With a loose-fitting, cropped and boxy silhouette, this work of art can be worn with high waist skinny jeans or cutoffs or can even be hung as a stunning piece of art as part of a gallery wall. Excellent vintage condition. We only have one of each style so get it or regret it!
