How to Deal When Your Past Won’t Let Go

November 17, 2015

We’ve all been there, where your life seems to finally be hitting stride. And not just any old stride, but a new, fresh-start stride. You’re sailing along, finally getting a hang of a “new normal” after the past year or so has felt like a struggle to get over a hump of changes whether they be breaking up with your partner, growing apart from an old friend or calling it quits on a dream project you’ve had all your life, when BAM. Your past abruptly rears it’s unwelcome head and say’s “Hey. Remember me? Remember this pain? Remember this heart-ache? Remember this un-wanted change?” and you’re all like “REALLY? like really? like right now as I’m FINALLY getting the hang of sailing my new ship on its new course?”.

photo cred: Packed Party

Calling all Party Girls!! What’s navy blue, starts a party, makes you smile and is delivered to your doorstep? You guessed it, a PACKED PARTY! which is the best gift ever for your friends, family and even yourself (after all, the idea was born when founder Jordan Jones threw herself a pity party)! But don’t be fooled, Jordan is the ultimate boss babe; as an inspiring female entrepreneur, she started this business at the young age of twenty-three and it’s taken off ever since then. A true dream chaser, Jones took the time out of her busy schedule to share her thoughts on what it takes to start a business.

How to Stop and Smell the Sunflowers: Finding Your Zen with a Crazy Busy Schedule

October 12, 2015

I’ve always been the person that loves having a packed schedule. In high school and college, I performed by best when running from activity to activity, packing my days full with school, work-outs, friends and riding horses (a lot of riding horses lol). As someone who would consider myself to lean more towards that A-type of personality, these kind of feelings makes total sense! I like routine, I like knowing what the future week looks like, planning activities gives me a sense of security and control. But for everyone who is this A-type personality or knows someone who is (maybe even loves someone who is) you know, we can have a tendency to run ourselves down, overload our schedule thinking we’re super human and sometimes crash and burn!

Women Who Inspire: Bloguettes Edition

September 24, 2015
bloguettes, blogging tips, blogging 101, blog resources, branding, bloggers, blogging advice

When Jennifer and I decided we wanted to start a blog last October 2014 (wow…almost a year already), we both knew we had a lot to learn. We were inspired by top bloggers who made it look so easy and fun. As we’ve come to find out, blogging is definitely fun but takes tons of hard work and dedication. Of course, we had a general idea of where to begin but we wanted to educate ourselves on the business of blogging and learn everything from photography, website development, social media strategy, branding, monetizing and anything in between. On our quest to be blogging experts, we came across the most darling Instagram feed we’ve ever seen. As we scrolled and scrolled through perfectly shot photos, we were quickly inspired by the cohesive story of the Bloguettes. We were intrigued and after more research, we learned the Bloguettes were the perfect resource to make our blog go from concept to reality! After all, the Bloguettes offer workshops, webinars, and camps to help bloggers elevate their knowledge and presence.

Wander to The Desert

Lately, like literally late at night when my mind won’t stop, I’ve been browsing Pinterest and have been drawn to desert scenery in a way that is inexplicable and is planting a seed for an early fall trip to Marfa, Big Bend or just a random desert west of here. Somehow there is something very alluring about these barren, gritty, scorching hot sandy places. Follow our Pinterest and our Wander to the Desert board here.

This Body, My Body: Love it just the way it is

June 12, 2015

As a 30-year-old woman, I have learned to love my body just the way it is. Life has taught that there is no need to poison the mind with comparisons or judgement or believe the negative thoughts that people insist are truths. I’ve finally come to a place in my life where I feel confident, healthy, strong, sexy and wouldn’t change a thing about my body. I love every curve, stretch mark, muscle definition, thought in my brain and shape of my imperfect yet perfect body. I strongly feel in praising other women no matter their shape, size, color or any other meaningless stereotype we create to bring others down. So when Jen and I heard about #thisbodymybody movement by the ladies from Beyond the Clothing , I quickly knew I wanted to be a part of a positive message to make women feel beautiful and powerful, inside and outside.

This Body, My Body: My 25 Year Journey in This Body

June 11, 2015

I could have written a million things about this topic, my body. I could have written about the struggles to accept my body. But instead when Mel and I were chatting about this, one thought kept popping in my mind over and over: that when I first wake up in the morning and I’m still lying in bed, I feel completely satisfied with my body. There is not an ounce of me that doesn’t appreciate the shape of it, how strong it is, where this body has taken me and that most importantly, I’m healthy and don’t have to worry about my well-being and living in this body. After all, that’s the most important thing! LIVING in this body. It’s not a tool for modeling clothes, or snagging the hottest guy, or a status symbol for which society will inspect and then say “yes, you go in this group” or “no, you go in this group” or “you earn this much” or “you’re worth less today”.

Bloggers Gonna Blog: Best Camera and Lens Advice for Newbie Bloggers

June 9, 2015

When Melissa and I started this blog, we had no idea how to use a camera, which one to buy, which lens would be useful and on top of that how to use all of it! I’ve always been a big fan of photography though, so I was super excited to learn and took on the research like it was my day job. I’m here to share with you what we’ve learned in the past 6 months of blogging with our current camera, what we did and what we would do differently camera wise if we had the chance to go back! We’re still figuring out how to get the best photos so this post will be more about your actual camera and lens than how to get the best photos. That post is still in progress lol!

Women Who Inspire: Jess Lively

May 27, 2015

Photo Cred: Jess Lively

I recently had the opportunity to listen to Jess Lively speak at an Austin blogger event and was blown away by her discussion. By the way, at the time I had no idea who she was or why she was speaking at a mixer but I listened with open ears and an open mind. After all, I love listening to other women’s journeys that empower and inspire you to be a better person. After a few minutes into her presentation, I quickly came to realize she is what I call a self-help expert and believes  you should start transforming your approach to life with value-based intentions. In a room full of bloggers, she had the confidence to speak to a very vulnerable subject – passion and intuition. Her words really resonated with me because I currently feel that I am stuck in life with my career (oh boy, I hope my employer doesn’t read this). I feel trapped and I have no passion for what I do. I hope I’m not the only one who feels this way but sometimes people don’t want to get real and have this sensitive conversation. However, Jess Lively keeps it real! She is able to inspire and help you take a look at your situation and find a way to keep you happy and motivated.

Techie Girl, Techie World: Tagspire

May 20, 2015

A few weeks ago, Melissa and I attended an amazing ATX Blogger Brunch where we met some fabulous Austin women who are making things happen for them and their companies. One of which was Amy Chait, VP of Marketing for Tagspire, an awesome new app that happened to be sponsoring the ATX Blogger Brunch. So what is Tagspire you might ask?

Women Who Inspire: SXSW Edition

March 21, 2015

I’m such a believer in women empowering women and lifting each other’s spirits so I love to go to events based around women supporting each other. Luckily enough, I live in Austin and have been able to attend SXSW. The one event that I did not want to miss this year was Neiman Marcus’s Make Some Noise . It was filled with beautiful ladies from the inside out discussing how they are leading the way forward for women around the world.
