Due to VERY popular demand, I wanted to write an update to our camera lens advice for those of you who are considering going on a trip in the new year and are wanting some real life advice from a blogger just like you! This post is all about getting those super pretty blogger travel photos and which camera lens combo you need to have to achieve the look. Now by all means, I am not a “professional photographer”, I didn’t go to art school nor do I have more than a year or so experience with a DSLR, but after spending two weeks in Italy with my dad and our trusty Nikon, I feel confident that I can help you decide on what camera to bring, what lenses you need and which to leave at home (sorry lenses!) and what setting will save your travel photos lives lol.

Calling all Party Girls!! What’s navy blue, starts a party, makes you smile and is delivered to your doorstep? But don’t be fooled, Jordan is the ultimate boss babe; as an inspiring female entrepreneur, she started this business at the young age of twenty-three and it’s taken off ever since then. A true dream chaser, Jones took the time out of her busy schedule to share her thoughts on what it takes to start a business.

Make a Grand Entrance with a Console Table

October 15, 2015
how to decorate an entry way

All images: Pinterest

One year after moving into my house, I have finally completed decorating (last items on the list were a console table and accessories) and it feels so good to have a place I can call home. After a long day of running around town, I have created a space I love which allows my brain to unwind, my body to relax and I can enjoy countless hours in my living room doing whatever my heart desires. I live in a small condo that has one bed/one bath so I didn’t need to go overboard with the décor but I wanted my house to feel cozy yet super stylish. My ultimate dream is for my house to look like it belongs on the pages of Elle Décor magazine but for now I chose to decorate in a “transitional” style. I had to ask my interior design sister what that meant and according to a professional, I have more traditional pieces of furniture mixed with modern accessories. The last items on the check list to complete my home were accessories to compliment my West Elm console table in the entryway…because a grand entrance needs to make a statement. For design inspiration on modern entryways, I looked no further than the endless pics on Houzz and Pinterest. I’ve rounded up my favorite inspiration pictures and took elements from each to create a fun, eclectic blend of accessories in my entryway.

Women Who Inspire: Bloguettes Edition

September 24, 2015
bloguettes, blogging tips, blogging 101, blog resources, branding, bloggers, blogging advice

When Jennifer and I decided we wanted to start a blog last October 2014 (wow…almost a year already), we both knew we had a lot to learn. We were inspired by top bloggers who made it look so easy and fun. As we’ve come to find out, blogging is definitely fun but takes tons of hard work and dedication. Of course, we had a general idea of where to begin but we wanted to educate ourselves on the business of blogging and learn everything from photography, website development, social media strategy, branding, monetizing and anything in between. On our quest to be blogging experts, we came across the most darling Instagram feed we’ve ever seen. As we scrolled and scrolled through perfectly shot photos, we were quickly inspired by the cohesive story of the Bloguettes. We were intrigued and after more research, we learned the Bloguettes were the perfect resource to make our blog go from concept to reality! After all, the Bloguettes offer workshops, webinars, and camps to help bloggers elevate their knowledge and presence.

Techie Girl Techie World: Artifact Uprising

July 30, 2015

After recently watching the movie Amy (which was powerful, eye opening and down right sad),  I’ve decided I want to be better at taking more photos and videos of not only the big moments of my life but also the every day occurrences that may seem boring and mundane. I’m not here to critique the movie but I made an observation while watching the film – pre stardom, Amy had quite a bit off video footage and it was endearing to watch her grow up in front of the camera. With this being said, I want to make a conscious effort to document my memories by both printing photos and making videos. Sure, I have a crap ton of photos on my phone and saved on my computer but I want to physically hold them (like the good ‘ol days) and create compelling albums that I can share down the road with my loved ones.

This Body, My Body: Love it just the way it is

June 12, 2015

As a 30-year-old woman, I have learned to love my body just the way it is. Life has taught that there is no need to poison the mind with comparisons or judgement or believe the negative thoughts that people insist are truths. I’ve finally come to a place in my life where I feel confident, healthy, strong, sexy and wouldn’t change a thing about my body. I love every curve, stretch mark, muscle definition, thought in my brain and shape of my imperfect yet perfect body. I strongly feel in praising other women no matter their shape, size, color or any other meaningless stereotype we create to bring others down. So when Jen and I heard about #thisbodymybody movement by the ladies from Beyond the Clothing , I quickly knew I wanted to be a part of a positive message to make women feel beautiful and powerful, inside and outside.

This Body, My Body: My 25 Year Journey in This Body

June 11, 2015

I could have written a million things about this topic, my body. I could have written about the struggles to accept my body. But instead when Mel and I were chatting about this, one thought kept popping in my mind over and over: that when I first wake up in the morning and I’m still lying in bed, I feel completely satisfied with my body. There is not an ounce of me that doesn’t appreciate the shape of it, how strong it is, where this body has taken me and that most importantly, I’m healthy and don’t have to worry about my well-being and living in this body. After all, that’s the most important thing! LIVING in this body. It’s not a tool for modeling clothes, or snagging the hottest guy, or a status symbol for which society will inspect and then say “yes, you go in this group” or “no, you go in this group” or “you earn this much” or “you’re worth less today”.

Bloggers Gonna Blog: Best Camera and Lens Advice for Newbie Bloggers

June 9, 2015

When Melissa and I started this blog, we had no idea how to use a camera, which one to buy, which lens would be useful and on top of that how to use all of it! I’ve always been a big fan of photography though, so I was super excited to learn and took on the research like it was my day job. I’m here to share with you what we’ve learned in the past 6 months of blogging with our current camera, what we did and what we would do differently camera wise if we had the chance to go back! We’re still figuring out how to get the best photos so this post will be more about your actual camera and lens than how to get the best photos. That post is still in progress lol!

Why I Returned My Dream Shoes

June 2, 2015

Last week I was browsing Shopbop, as I often do, and I did something impulsive. When I saw that my dream shoes, the Stuart Weitzman Nudist smooth leather in the nude color, were down to the LAST pair and it just happened to be my size, I bought them. It’s my birthday month after all and I had been wanting them for what seemed like forever, but is closer to a year, but mostly I just did it, because I wanted to treat myself for my 25th birthday.

A Green Home

May 5, 2015

the transatlantic

Today’s post is all about how indoor greenery can anchor a room and give life to design. I personally have about five orchids in my home and my friends joke that I’m the crazy orchid lady which I take as a total compliment. It’s like saying I’m like Taylor Swift, except orchids instead of cats. I wait quite along time for them to bloom and am trying to coax them to bloom more often, but they really do breath life into my home even between blooms. I pulled most of these photos from our Pinterest design board which was not surprisingly filled with lots of greenery in almost every photo we’ve pinned!

Renegade Craft Fair

December 4, 2014

Jennifer and I had a blast at the the Renegade Craft Fair in Austin. If this fair comes to a city near you, be sure not to miss out! This event is a showcase of talented craftsmen and an explosion of inspiration for the inner artist in all of us. We searched through endless booths of artisans including jewelry makers, handbag designers, clay sculptors and so much more.
