Last weekend I met up with a few friends of mine at the mean eyed cat bar in downtown Austin to chat about our new ventures. If you haven’t been to mean eyed cat bar and you live in Austin, drop what you’re doing and go now.The interior feels like you are walking into the coolest dive bar straight out of a movie setting where the guys drink shots of whisky and the next small town country star is going to take the stage. The walls are covered in super cool vintage neon signs and old pictures of johnny cash.
I was inspired to create a look that made me feel like I could be a character in the mean eyed cat bar’s movie in my mind (also I’ve been wearing a lot of flannel lately and will use any excuse to explain why I can’t stop wearing it). This super soft flannel I picked up the other day at oldnavy when they were having a massive winter sale and the rest are items I already had in my closet! My go-to black leather booties are a season ago from Madewell, but guess what? They’re on sale right now…(do you also have mixed feelings about this when you discover the same thing about something expensive in your closet?) so take advantage of the good fortune while you can! I fell in love with this two-tone jean jacket from Nordstrom BP. (old) and wear it with black skinnies to contrast the lighter denim for a more casual look. The bag was a graduation gift that I’ve had for 5 years now and has so much sentimental value to me. Lastly, I added the vegan leather mini skirt (similar) from ASOS (old) to add that extra touch of, dare I say.. bad ass with an ethical twist! What do you think? Will you be embracing your inner bad ass after this winter?
