Here’s a fun fact about me…punctuality is not my strong suit. There you go world, I admit it. Nine times out of ten I’m running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get out of the house and get to where I need to go. I tell my friends that my tardiness comes from the fact that I’m always on island time. My family is from Puerto Rico and every one runs late (its like the norm) and we all just get there when we get there. Life is supposed to slow down if you’re on an island because there shouldn’t be a rush. So I apply that island time to well just about any time in my life and always run late for just about everything in my life, including work (sorry employer), parties, appointments, and probably my own funeral. I’ve always admired the speech given by Travis on Clueless when he was awarded the trophy for most tardy’s in a semester (HAHAHA.) I mean, he gets it. There so much that goes on behind the scenes of why you’re running late.
So on the weekends when I know I have to rush out the door to go run a gazillion errands, I usually take my sweet time getting out of bed, taking a shower, and eating a relaxed breakfast and then I panic when I look at the time and realize I was supposed to meet someone or be somewhere at a certain time. Holy crap, I’m now on a mad dash to get ready and here is where chambray shorts save my life. All you have to do is add a cute printed tank, metallic flats, tote bag to throw all your junk, slap some fun bracelets, braid your hair and you’re out the door. Oh wait a minute, at this point I’m in my car and realize I need gas so that adds an additional ten minutes of tardiness. OOPS! Thankfully, I have really awesome, understanding, accepting, patient friends that just go with the flow and know I will always be late. The smart ones now know to make sure to tell me that the plans start earlier than they really do.
