If I was a french girl, I would wear stripes, red lips, a beret and sit eating macaroons all day long in front of the Eiffel Tower before jumping on my bike with a straw basket on the front full of fresh blooms, a baguette and champagne. Fortunately, I at least have the perfect outfit that I would wear in this super specific day dream of mine! I know this is a super literal take on being a french girl, and they’re so much more than stripes, red lips and vespas with boys, but thats the literal french girl in me I guess.
I picked up these adorable chiffon pleated shorts from Zara last summer for a date with a non-french boy and even had to alter them slightly in the back because they only came in size M (why do you do that sometimes Zara?? only make things in one size expecting it to fit all, well just because there’s elastic doesn’t mean it will fit all!). Since then I’ve taken them to San Francisco and worn them while actually riding on a real vespa with sadly another non-french boy, but a very nice gentleman none the less, and worn them on other countless less notable occasions. This time though, instead of pairing them with my C’est Bon sweater that I love but was maybe a little too literal for this literal french girl, I paired this look back to stripes of course! I wear stripes so often that its a little ridiculous. It’s funny because I usually gravitate toward solid colored items with the exception of stripes. BUT lately I have been making more of an effort to look for printed tops to jazz it up a bit (other than stripes of course ha!). I kept it simple in the accessory department with a super pretty red rosette necklace from Anthroplogie a long while ago. The perfect finishing touch? My red clutch that accompanied me to Paris, yes Paris France not Paris Texas, four years ago and still carries a little stone in it that I took from the pebble beaches in Nice, France. Couldn’t have ended the outfit on a better note if I do say so myself lol!
As y’all might have noticed, two weeks ago I turned 25 and it got me thinking about what I’ve learned about the last 25 years and what I want the next 25 years to be like for me. It’s a sobering thought, one that could use a great big bottle of french champagne (insert winky emoticon face here)! Stay tuned for champagne fueled thoughts on getting older later this week on the blog!
