There’s something to be said about the red lip classic thing that goes hand in hand with one of my favorite holidays, fourth of July. Since budgeting for Italy, I’ve had to really focus on the classic pieces in my wardrobe that are mix and matchable and make me feel like me while still feeling like a fresh version of myself (I swear the thoughts in girls heads haha!). If I was a french girl, I would wear stripes, red lips, a beret and sit eating macaroons all day long in front of the Eiffel Tower before jumping on my bike with a straw basket on the front full of fresh blooms, a baguette and champagne. Fortunately, I at least have the perfect outfit that I would wear in this super specific day dream of mine! I know this is a super literal take on being a french girl, and they’re so much more than stripes, red lips and vespas with boys, but thats the literal french girl in me I guess.

I seriously can’t rave about these H&M destroyed denim shorts enough. They fit really well, aren’t too tight or too loose and at less $20 are an obvious choice for dark destroyed denim shorts of the year, am I right?

It was some of the most fun times I had while growing up and made me really fond of that era. Which leads me to the inspiration behind this look and this skirt! This is one of my favorite times of the year in Austin, because its just past that cold enough for an extra layering piece but not so warm that I can only stand to be outside mid-day if I’m either by water or in water. During this small window of weather perfection, I love to take advantage of laying around in the park next to my house and reading books, doing some yoga poses and planning upcoming trips.

Growing up in Austin, I never really got into SXSW considering I was a big scaredy cat and thought all bad things in the city happened downtown, which turns out Austin is a pretty safe city and I’ve been enjoying downtown life for the past year and it suits me just fine. This year, along with Melissa, I’ve purchased a wrist band, which I’m not quite sure what it guarantees me, but am so excited to roam the city and check out a few bands I’ve discovered throw 8tracks and soundcloud.

Last weekend was I met up with my girlfriends for queso, tacos and drinks after a working all day (fun work that is) on the blog. Being from the south and growing up in Texas, tex-mex is just a way of life; in fact my dad loves it so much that I think if we could eat it every time we meet to somewhere to eat, we would lol! If only it wasn’t for my pestering him to try new places, we probably really would! Anyways, we met at La Condesa which is one of my all time favorite places for girl talk and the BEST drinks this side of the Mississippi. I didn’t have time to run home and grab flats so I wore what I had previously been wearing which was a super cute outfit built around a statement skirt!

Last weekend I met up with Melissa on Saturday morning to brunch, talk blog and shop (by shop I mean literally talk shopping lol). When I was getting ready that morning I had my heart set on wearing a cute little draw string dress from Forever 21 that is incredibly comfortable, so I threw it on, grabbed my sunnies and DVF wedges ( similar nude wedges ) and headed out the door. As soon as I stepped out side, I felt the chill. Ladies you know what I’m talking about, you have this idea of what to wear in your mind and totally don’t even bother checking the weather so when you get outside you realize holy goodness, its freezing, what was I thinking.
