The trapeze dress. What is southern girl’s best friend nine months out of the year, because let’s be honest, I’m not made of wax, but if I were, I would melt about five months out of the year (that’s being conservative Texas, so you can thank me later). I’m SUCH a baby when it comes to the heat. Two summers ago when I exclaimed to Mel that I could meet her after work because I was wearing jeans and it was way to hot outside to wear jeans, and that if I met her wearing these jeans it would have to be somewhere I didn’t have to do alot of walking to get to, we would either HAVE to sit inside somewhere or I’d die, she looked at me like the drama queen I can truly be on special occasions… WHEN ITS UNGODLY HOT OUTSIDE.

Which brings me to every southern girl’s best friend nine months out of the year: a guazy trapeze dress. Yes, you too can look like you are a trapeze artist (although I’m realizing now that trapeze artists wear the exact opposite thing, a leotard…whatever.) It’s breezy, loose, hides sweat, don’t act like you don’t sweat, and facilitates a proper stuffing of your face meal whether that be chips and queso, a southern girl’s staple, or a big juicy cheeseburger and beer. I mean, really what more can you ask for when it’s so hot outside that you could cook an egg on the sidewalk? Or when it’s so hot outside that literally humans can’t survive in a car with closed windows for longer than half a minute? Or when it’s so hot outside that even your dog doesn’t want to go outside? seriously…

I’ve rounded up my FAVORITE gauzy trapeze dresses including the tribal print dress I’m wearing which was less than $20  and I’m obsessed with it and can’t stop wearing. I kept them all under $25 because I forgot to mention that I’m going on a self imposed shopping cleanse until I leave for Italy, which means not buying ANYTHING. It’s hard. It’s also making me realize how much money I could save if I stuck to a budget, hence why I’m keeping all these trapeze dresses under an affordable price. Also, because when it’s this hot this many month’s out of the year, you’ll probably need like…50. HA!
