With your work wear wardrobe it can be tough to find pieces that make getting ready in the morning and also not looking like you picked your clothes while still half asleep (even if you really did) AND also not be completely basic. Because even if I’m not really quite sure what basic really even means, side note thanks Buzzfeed for trying to clear that up for me anyways though, I know that your work wardrobe should be anything but basic. I mean its already work right? No, need to make it any more cumbersome than it already is ha!
When building your work wear wardrobe, think basic, but like not basic. “Hey, Jennifer, that’s super not helpful, like what ever do you really mean?”. I mean think of pieces that are classic, timeless but with a twist. Like this linen striped a-line skirt from Zara. I usually incorporate linen in my blazers or in a great pair of chinos, but a full a-line skirt coupled with the classic tiny blue stripe give the skirt that extra little zhuzh you may need for a Monday morning pick me up with the barista skimps on that extra shot. Thinking in classic colors, like blues, reds and neutrals can also help to similify your work wear wardrobe as well as your mix and match ability when running late for work! Of course, when in doubt, key accessories can save you when your lacking inspiration of just down right not into getting dressed for work that morning. Take this red and tan polka dot scarf; not only does it save me when the AC in the office gets a little out of hand and starts going all “Do you want to build a snowman?” on me, but the pop of print AND color are like the exclamation mark to my outfit that I can conveniently take on and off.
Here’s some of my favorite Nordstrom Anniversary sale work wardrobe basics that can transition from summer to fall in a pinch and also did I mention on S-A-L-E?
