shirt (Zara old) similar | cut-offs H&M | sandals (Tory Burch old) similar & splurge | hat (old) love this one | bag (old) similar
This is one of my favorite times of the year in Austin, because its just past that cold enough for an extra layering piece but not so warm that I can only stand to be outside mid-day if I’m either by water or in water. During this small window of weather perfection, I love to take advantage of laying around in the park next to my house and reading books, doing some yoga poses and planning upcoming trips.
This is also the time of the year when I can finally pull out my cut-offs and fedora! I have a pair of super loose and destroyed light wash cut-offs from Urban Outfitters that I love and wore last summer all summer long (so much so that one of my best friends was like “do you like, own any other shorts?” haha). They’re great because they have that really vintage-y vibe that I love but I’ve been wanting to add a pair of medium to dark wash high-waisted and this is the catch…and of reasonable length shorts to rotation for a while now. So you can imagine my excited when I found these super cute, slightly destroyed high-waisted H&M shorts for, drum roll please, under $20 (you can thank me later budget, in fact I’ll cash in that thank you come Italy in Florence at the leather markets ha!). They also come in black which, I’ll confess I picked up too and the price of both was still under what the price of most denim shorts are for just one pair! I didn’t want them to be too clingy on the butt or too short, so I sized up from my usual H&M size of US 4 to a US 6. The size US 4 fit just fine, probably how they intended, but was just more snug and a little shorter than what I was looking for, so size up if you are going for a looser more relaxed fit, and stay true to size if you do want that more fitted high-waisted denim short fit. I finished off this look with a super soft worn in striped tee from Zara that is sooo comfortable but was picked up a long time ago (included similar tee in links above and shop the post below) and my go-to summer accessory, my straw fedora ! Last but not least, I’ve been really into metallics lately, so I pulled out my old trusty Tory Burch metallic flat gladiator sandals from forever ago, but I really love these similar metallic gladiator sandals from Steve Madden which are currently an extra 25% off right now with promo code FRIENDS (that makes them only $52).
I wouldn’t consider myself a total book worm but if I get a good book, I do sometimes loose myself. I just finished this last one pictured here, Grey Mountain by John Grisham, and am currently looking for my next good read. Melissa suggested Mindy Kaling’s super funny book which I think I’ll definitely pick up but I would love to hear y’alls suggestions even if they’re older! I don’t mind picking up something from last summer or even a few summers back!
