2015 Fitness Trends: FitTech

These days I can’t go much more than a few minutes without my iphone and that’s only partially because I love instagram so much! Mostly it’s because my iphone has everything I need on it and is my little helper for almost any situation I might be in. Why not pack this little baby with some apps that can help you stay on track with your fitness goals, healthy eating habits and help you discover new workouts?

That’s just what we did for you today! Instead of you wasting all your time downloading a mini million of apps, trying a thousand and then deleting 990 to end up with about ten good health/fitness apps, we’ve done it for you!

1 | Waterlogged

A huge new resolution that we’ve seen from other bloggers is to drink more water. Melissa drinks several bottle of water before lunch which is about several more bottles than me by the end of the day. I could a lot better about drinking water (and my skin, hair and nails would thank me) but to make it so much easier to track your progress on water intake, you can download this app! It helps you track your daily H2O intake and makes sure you stay on track for the day; if you don’t it’ll send you a notification to remind you, which is so helpful for someone like me who just get so focused, I forget! In fact, I’ll go pour myself a glass right now and Waterlog it now.

2 | Map My Run

This app is perfect for the avid runner or the runner just getting started and looking to join a running community! Map My Run pairs with your phone’s GPS to track everything from your speed, time, pace, route to calories burned. The best part about this app is you can connect your social media handles like facebook and twitter to share you accomplishments with friends and family!

3 | Nike+ Training Club

For those of you who are Nike to the bone, consider yourself an athlete or are looking to integrate new workout moves to your routine, this app is for you. You can download a workout you know you will be interested in, customize them to meet your needs for the day, sync to NikeFuel to track and push your progress and even stream detailed workout instructions to your TV or ipad. The app is sleek and beautiful with killer athletes to boot!

4 | Jawbone Up and Up App

I know everyone is pretty crazy about FitBits, but if you ask me Jawbone Up is sleeker, cooler and easier to use. I love how the design is sporty yet still chic enough to wear with your everyday outfits, because let’s face it, if this wearable technology isn’t cute you won’t wear it and won’t have any activity to track. This bracelet tracks everything from your sleep patterns (this could get interesting) to your daily activity. This smart bracelet even gives you a little vibration as a reminder when you’ve been sitting too long which is perfect for everyone who has an office job like me. It’s so incredibly important to get up and move around daily but so easy to forget during the workday! Use this bracelet with the app to gain even more insights on your sleep patterns, calories burned and number of steps all through the help of their UP24, a smart coach that helps keep you motivated towards your personal goals.

5 | Fooducate

Melissa does a much better job than me at making consciously healthy food decisions on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong, I eat healthy but often times find myself eating the same things because I don’t know how to branch out to new healthy foods that are just as convenient and cost-effective. Fooducate is an amazing app where you can scan the barcode of an item in the grocery store or at lunch and see a list of pros and cons on the item, track your intake or see suggestions for healthier options. This app is helping me to better plan out some core meals to make for myself on the weekends that I can transition easily to other healthy dishes for leftovers too! You can even ask questions from the Fooducate community if you need any advice or don’t have a great health nut handy like I do in Melissa!

Great app list! I’m definitely going to have to try Fooducate. I find myself eating the same foods, but hope this app may help me branch out a bit!
