In recent weeks, I’ve had multiple friends tell me about the super convenient, easy to use membership service ClassPass which allows you to try out new workout studios and change up the routine a bit. I loved the idea of ClassPass because you are not limited to one gym and the classes they offer. I’ve been truly contemplating signing up for the service but I already have a pretty awesome gym where I’ve been grandfathered into a great monthly rate. But when I was doing research on ClassPass, I was blown away to find out the co-creator is only 31 years old and the company is only 2 years old!
That’s so inspiring to me for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, she literally is only a year older than me which solidifies the fact that success can come at any age. It’s all a matter of persistence and hard work. If you have an idea, run with it! Do not let fear or uncertainties convince you that you cannot follow your dreams. A few years ago, I used to always say to myself, “Well, it’s too late and I’m past my prime and college is over so I can’t do that anymore.” I didn’t realize that age is just a number and it’s not an obstacle. People do great things after 30. Prime example, Oprah Winfrey debuted her talk show at 32, Tina Fey appeared on SNL at 30, Martha Stewart developed her catering business at 35, you get the point! Success can come at any age and the fact that Payal Kadakia started her business in her 30’s is so inspiring.
Second, she followed her passion and created a tool to enrich the lives of others. There is something truly motivating to hear individuals who believe strongly in an idea and work their asses off to see the finished product. In a recent interview with Fortune she was quoted, “I woke up every Saturday morning and I would go to rehearsal, and everyone else would be going to brunch and getting drunk,…I was like, ‘I’ll meet you later, but I want to go do something I care about first.’” Success does not come in the blink of an eye and you really have to make sacrifices that you know will pay off at the end of the day. I love the idea of ClassPass so maybe I’ll wiggle it into my budget next month as a trial and attend some new work out classes. Namaste!
“The more you practice something, the easier it’ll become.” -Payal Kadakia
