I first heard about this mysterious meeting of the fashion/design/art minds that determined the colors of the year which will define the fashion trends while watching a great documentary on Vogue’s September Issue on Netflix. I was fascinated by this idea of secret society that makes the decisions before normal people like me are even thinking of next spring or summer.
Pantone gathers the creme de la creme on the art, beauty and fashion industry to set the trends for the upcoming year. The color of 2015: Marsala , a deep rich wine color with warm undertones of burgundy and brown was announced to my great excitement this year because it so closely resembles my alma mater’s color, gorgeous Texas A&M maroon. The color is universally flattering, for both men or women and on skin tones of all shades. This is a color that will transcend your beauty, interior design and fashion trends in 2015; I can’t wait to wear this color in a rich, warm-bodied lipstick, a classic structured top handle bag or a gorgeous knit cardigan. And of course while cheering on my Texas A&M Aggies this basketball and next football season! Are any of you planning on have a Super Bowl watch party? I love football, but I mostly love the get-togethers with friends and the food lol! Who will you be cheering for this Super Bowl season?

Great post. September’s Issue was great. I went to a small (very small) screening for it here in NYC when it was first out. Wasn’t it great. I actually first heard about the color selection a few years ago in an article in the newsletter WWD. So amazing to find out what goes on behind closed doors in the fashion world. Sometimes I think the fashion world toys with us. I mean, Marsala is just a less saturated Burgandy or Merlot. Btw, if you don’t alreayd have a subscription to WWD, get it. It’s only $95 for the online/print subscription. I only live 15min from my job so no reading on the way to work. However on sat/sun afternoons I can’t put it down. You’ll love it.
