Creating a Gallery Wall

Give your walls the love they deserve by creating a one-of-a-kind gallery wall. Let’s be real, there are far too many bare walls in my condo and they are just boring. I’ve decided to transform a focal wall by my dining room and jump on the gallery wall train by creating a statement with various art, mirrors, and wall decor. I’ve chosen a rather daring color palette of white, gold, and black to make to my home feel a little more glamorous. It’s taken time to collect these pieces but I’ve finally created the perfect gallery wall that I am so proud off.  I wanted to share some tips and tricks to jazz up your space.

Choose a color palette and design style | Well, that’s easier said than done. My advice is to visit model homes. Yes, it may seem odd but go to new developments in your area and walk through model homes to see how a designer decorates. You will get so many ideas to use at your own house and you can take pictures to reference.

Get Inspiration | Spend countless hours browsing some of my favorite sites for design inspiration: pinterest, houzz , joss & main , west elm , domaine home and so on. Collect all the images that inspire you and mock up a design.

Be Patient | Don’t just buy something to buy something. It will take time and many shopping trips to finds the perfect pieces that all work together. Keep in mind what you are looking for and file it away in the back of your mind so when you find it at a store or online, you can make the purchase.

Have a friend help | When it’s time to finally hang all the pieces, play around with the layout (but you should already have a mock design sketched on a paper) and have a loved one or friend ensure the pieces are level and create an interesting design while you are hanging.

Happy Decorating!
