Last week I shared with you my new favorite high-waisted denim shorts from H&M and how I styled them for a casual day of grass laying, fruit-infused water sipping and book reading. But these denim shorties aren’t just a one trick casual pony. No way! So today I’m sharing how I styled these H&M shorties for a sassy girls night out to an old favorite Mexican food joint, el Alma.
For me, the key to transitioning these high-waisted denim shorts (less than $20!!) from day lounging to night prowling is all in balancing the destroyed cut-off details of the shorts with softer and sleeker pieces on top. I paired this vintage silk boyfriend blouse back to these shorts because the silk material adds a feminine element but the boyfriend cut keeps the look still feeling really cool and effortless. Heels automatically dress anything up especially in a super laid back town like Austin, so I knew these oldie but goodie lace up sandals from when Prabal Gurung created a capsule collection for Target would be the perfect sassy touch. I’ve got an idea on how to update these bad boys so check back with me later next week with more on that! Finally the accessories along with a red lip dress these denim shorts up perfectly for a girls night.
I have a confession to make, I purchased this gorgeous Tory Burch square ‘robinson’ tote last week and I’m in love. I know I contemplated my forever bag dilemma in last week’s bag roundup post and how I desperately needed a new bag to rotate in my everyday usage and here’s the new baby! You may notice, it’s not black or tan , which to my knowledge are the only in stock neutral colors that this square size comes in now-a-days and you may also be asking yourself, when if it’s not a color currently in stock, then where the hell did you get it Jennifer? I have a second confession to make: I purchased this bag from Designer Handbag Rescue . What does that mean lol? I got a really great deal and I’m gonna tell you all about it later this week!
