Liebster Award

Liebster

Jennifer and I were beyond thrilled when we were nominated for the Liebster Award by the lovely and beautiful Kelsey from The Young and Wild Wife . Since our blogging adventure began in December, we have been so awe-inspired by all the amazing and talented bloggers we’ve connected with. It’s incredible to see such a supportive community that is so willing to help you reach your potential. The Liebster Award is such a fun way to get know all the fellow bloggers you follow on a more personal level. It’s a unique approach to spreading the word on new bloggers with 3,000 follower or less. For those lucky ladies that have been nominated, just answer the 11 questions listed at the end of the post and then nominate 11 new blogs to answer a set of new questions (by the way, it’s so hard to narrow it down to only 11 blogs). Kelsey, thanks so much for thinking of us!

1. What was the inspiration that led you to start your blog?

Jennifer: I have always had a desire to create something all my own that I could control the vision and directly focus on my passions. I wasn’t really sure how I would accomplish this goal, but I have always been ambitious and when I started to get more involved in the tech community in work, I realized that starting a blog with Melissa would be an amazing experience for both of us on how to get an idea up and off the ground! I have always loved fashion, design and culture and have searching for a way to combine my desire to have my own business with these loves; Seek Wander Share is the perfect combination and I get to have all this fun with my best friend!

2. What is your favorite aspect of blogging?

J: I love see a project through from start to finish and being able to determine the vision, design and execution. Having your own blog is like getting to be the CEO, COO, CTO, Project manager, Director of Marketing and intern all at once! The creative outlet is huge for me because it is so rewarding to have an idea for a post and make it come together based on your vision and creativity.

M: I absolutely love to sit down with Jennifer and decide our content; I would love to make blogging my main gig and solely focus on creating content, pitching ideas, shooting looks, sharing our stories with our readers and delivering the best editorials possible.

3. What is one of your New Year’s Resolutions? How are you doing so far?

J: I love this question! New Year’s Resolutions should be simple and inspiring , which is why I just have one this year: Travel more. I am planning a two week trip to Europe with my dad early next fall, and Melissa and I are hoping to plan a weekend trip for each season of the year. I would love to see the Grand Canyon, Marfa, D.C., Chicago and somewhere I can lay on the beach! So far, everything on the list is still up for grabs.

M: I’m not a big new year’s resolution person and typically do not make one. As cliche as this sounds, I try to make every day the best day possible. I focus on what makes me happy: family, friends, love, and health.

4. What inspires you?

J: I’m inspired by unique point of views, my imagination of what it must be like to be anyone but me, and how incredible it is to live. It sounds strange, but I have a very active imagination and so it’s not unusual for me to see pass a person and imagine their life, how they grew up, the experiences they might have had that shaped them, where they’re going, what they’re thinking, do they feel how I do inside? Independent, singular yet so connected to everyone in way I can sometimes feel but don’t know? All of these things inspire me, and if all else fails, Instagram and Pinterest are a great start!

M: I’m inspired by nature and life. I know that’s ridiculous and I sound like a totally hippie. But when you take a look around, there is so much that people take for granted; the world is so much bigger than all of us and that inspires me.

5. What is your favorite place you’ve ever visited and why?

J: That’s so tough! I literally read this questions, skipped it, answered all the others and still can narrow it down to one favorite! Instead I’ll rank them in an order that changes slightly but is the best I can do! New York, Lucerne, Venice, Hamburg, Paris, Monaco and San Francisco.

M: Hmmmm, I love everywhere I’ve visited because they are different in so many ways. If I had to narrow it down to one, it would be Colorado. It’s definitely not the most exotic place I’ve been to and I know it’s so close to home but Colorado is a gift to us from God. The beauty of the mountains are just jaw-dropping!

6. What, besides blogging, are you passionate about?

J: This is super nerdy, but I love to solve puzzles! I don’t mean just jigsaw puzzles, but trying to figure how to make something work functionally on our website, playing with all types of coding from sql, ruby, html, to python is so fun to me! I have even taken mock LSATs online…for fun! I just love puzzles and problem solving.

M: I’m super passionate about living a healthy lifestyle. Our body is our temple; I like to fuel it with super foods to keep energized and healthy.

7. Where have you travelled lately?

J: The last trip I took was to San Francisco with Melissa; we had the best time ever and I really feel like it was the experience we needed to start to listen to that voice inside each of us telling us we want more from our career, we have more ambition and want more control of our future than our current paths provide us and asking us how can we make this happen for us.

M: My last trip was the first week in December to Palos Verdes, CA. I was on a company retreat during the week and extended my trip through the weekend to enjoy sunny California. I stayed at the most amazing resort, Terranea and had a fantastic weekend of R & R.

8. Muffin or donut?

J: Wonut! Have you heard of these yet? they’re a waffle and a donut…together! How could that go wrong? It couldn’t.

M: Gimme a donut with coffee. I’ll take either a glazed or chocolate frosted!

9. What is your favorite book?

J: If you haven’t read Come To The Edge by Christina Haag, you absolutely need to. I read this book while traveling in Europe and some of my best memories of that trip are sitting on a stone wall in Switzerland looking out over the top of this book at snow capped mountains or opening up all the windows in my hotel, drawing a hot bath and reading this book, wondering how my life will unfold and all the twists and turns it will take, just like Christina’s did.

M: I’m not a huge reader but would love to be. I wish I could concentrate long enough to get through a book. However, the one book that I could not put down was Eat, Pray, Love. Such a beautiful story of a soul searching experience (that’s all I’ll tell…and don’t watch the movie, read the book!)

10. What is your favorite piece in your closet?

J: These questions are amazing but some are killer! This is really hard for me, because I feel like I try to pick pieces that will be timeless, are great quality and most importantly will get a lot of use from. I have a few pieces that are sentimental, like a dress that is made from Pakistani silk that my Grandmother brought back from her time living in Pakistan as new wife and new mother. I don’t have these in my closet yet, but when I do they’ll be my favorite sandals: Stuart Weitzman smooth leather nude nudist sandals!

M: Basic white tee.  Simple, comfortable, classic. White shirt, jeans, and cute sandals – DONE!

11. Where is your favorite place to shop?

J: I shop everywhere! I am an equal opportunity shopper and will shop almost anywhere. My favorite are Nordstrom because they have almost everything I want and I can usually find it at my local store, but if I’m looking for something sort of specific that would be either higher end or cross over brand from Nordstrom, Shopbop is where it’s at girls! For fun trendy inexpensive pieces I’ll either shop locally at Forever21 , or a bunch of different boutiques in town. For me trendier pieces are where I do a lot of my online shopping so places like: LuLu’s , NastGal , Asos , Zara , Topshop , H&M , ShopSosie , Necessary Clothing and Bauble Bar !

M: I’m such a fan of Nordstrom (I worked there for three years but was a loyal shopper before I was employed with them). I also love to shop at local boutiques. There are so many unique items to find and each store has its own “personality.” I reside in Austin and love to shop at Beehive , Blue Elephant Boutique , Luxe Apothetique , just to name a few.
