Austin is all the rage now and for good reason! There’s so much to do here and it has such an energetic vibe. I moved here three years ago and I’ve seen it grow so much. I heard a crazy statistic that over 150 people move to Austin in a day! Yikes…but how could you blame them. There’s a great music scene with tons of music festivals each year. The next one on the radar is SXSW; it’s a little more than just music with a focus on film and interactive. The city gets jam packed with industry professionals from all over the country. So with all these people coming into town, where do you stay? There are great hotels in the downtown area but I’ll share with you my two favorite hotels in ATX, Hotel San Jose and Hotel Saint Cecilia, right off South Congress. As of now, there are fully booked for SXSW but heck, there’s always next year.
First hotel on the list – Hotel San Jose located in the heart of SoCo. It’s a charming spot for both locals and travelers. The quaint bungalow style rooms are hidden behind lush landscaping in a courtyard setting. If you want to lounge, you can visit their open air patio (you don’t have to be a guest) and sip on cocktails while listening to live music. It’s such a great spot for winding down after a long day of SXSW festivities.
I absolutely love their minimalist design that offer a serene environment and showcase handmade furniture.
Next on the list is Hotel Saint Cecilia which is also off SoCo and actually owned by the same company. It’s one of those places that you can drive by and not really now its there because it’s hidden behind ivy covered fences. This property is the epitome of cool and it screams rock and roll! After all, it was created in honor of the patron saint of music and poetry – what an inspiring hotel! Not only is this a cool place to stay while you’re in town but you can tap into your inner artists (we all have a bit of creativity within us!). So after the SXSW Music party has stopped for the night, you can go back to the hotel and easily unwind. It’s small private grounds is only accessible to guests.

Who wouldn’t want to lay out by this pool? I instantly feel like I’m in the movie Almost Famous and I’ve been on some crazy road trip stalking my favorite rock n’ roll artist. It’s such a cool vibe! The property refers to this pool as their “crowning jewel” and I couldn’t agree more.
No two rooms at the hotel are alike. So it’s like staying on a new property if you frequent this hotel often. Plus, the rooms are super spacious and the design looks like it came straight from Elle Decor! So next time you’re in Austin, whether is for next year’s SXSW music festival or to check out the best food trucks featured on the Travel Chanel, you can stay somewhere unexpected – Hotel San Jose or Hotel Saint Cecilia. How will you ever choose?
