Austin Fashion Week Kick Off

Last Friday night Melissa and I attended the kick off event for Austin Fashion Week at SpeakEasy. This is our first year attending Austin Fashion Week and we couldn’t be more excited about experiencing such an amazing event within our Fashion community here in Austin! We are lucky enough to have received press passes and will be sitting front row which is SO EXCITING!

For the Austin Fashion Week Kickoff party, I wanted to wear something simple but still chic (and I’ll be honest something that made me feel just as tall as the model’s I knew I would be seeing lol!). This silk shirt I pilfered from my mom’s closet the other week when I helped her move, and also made off with this pink and red flannel too but I digress. I love it because it has a bit of a boyfriend fit which I think makes it feel kinda of street chic, you know? I’ve linked some similar ones that should do the trick too! One thing I do really love is a mini skirt. Especially for a fun event like this, nothing says I’m ready to party quite like a jacquard mini mini skirt. I picked this one up at Zara a few weeks ago and this was the perfect occasion to pull off the tags but totally love this darker metallic one that’s not quite as mini as this one. I kept my shoes super simple and was going for a these are Stuart Weitzmans but didn’t hit my bank account like Stuies would lol! These Asos sandals are not the most comfortable shoes in that if you have to stand for more than like 2 hours I wouldn’t suggest them, BUT they’re hella cute (do half size up though) and are AFFORDABLE at $63 which is kinda super important.

To celebrate the kickoff of all the Austin Fashion Week Soirees and the build up this entire week to this upcoming Saturday’s finale, Austin Fashion Week held a party featuring looks modeled after 20th century decades that were created from Mash Up teams of photographers, makeup artists and stylists. Carlos Barron , the photographer who is shooting our Austin Fashion Week looks this week, shot this AMAZING photo above for the mash up competition! This gives you an idea of some of the amazing looks models were wearing around the party the entire night.
